Todmorden banking hub opens
A new banking hub for Todmorden is now open in its temporary home at Tod College.
The hub offers a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. It also offers a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub:
Monday: No Community Banker available
Tuesday: Lloyds joining soon
Wednesday: Halifax
Thursday: NatWest
Friday: Barclays
As part of the opening, a community event will be held in Tod College on Wednesday 15 January between 10am and 1pm. A representative from Cash Access UK will be in attendance to present on banking hubs and the services provided and to hold a question-and-answer session. Everyone is welcome to attend.
While the hub in Tod College is up and running today, Cash Access UK can confirm it is currently working to secure a long term home for the banking hub which will offer the same services. Local residents can check for updates on our website.
This is the sixth banking hub to open in West Yorkshire. There are four more hubs planned for Wetherby, South Elmsall, Normanton and Armley.
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “I’m happy to announce that the new banking hub in Todmorden is now open at Tod College, giving local residents renewed access to cash and in-person banking services. The hub is available for everyday banking transactions every day of the week, and for more specific or complex enquiries, a community banker will be on-site to assist on designated days.
We’re looking forward to greeting members of the community at the upcoming event in Tod College next Wednesday [15 January]. Everyone is welcome to attend and find out more about these services.”
Cllr T Hanley at Todmorden Town Council: “It is promising news that the green light has been given for a banking hub. Reliable access to cash is so important for our town's shops, pubs, cafes and small businesses.
“For many people, being able to speak to another person face-to-face can make a world of difference. Our Town Council has fought for a dedicated, in-person banking facility ever since the last bank branch closed its doors. Todmorden deserves better, so along with councillor Diana Tremayne, we have refused to let it go.
“This is the right decision for local residents and retailers. We’re thrilled to see the banking hub up and running in our town.”
